HEI Primary wire colors
« on: January 26, 2010, 09:15:26 pm »
Hi all, I am looking to get a new coil for my 75, it has an hei and from what I see I need to know if it has red/white or red/yellow primary colors from the coil. Is opening it up and looking at it the only way to tell or is there an easier way?

That's news to me... Who told you that you need to know the wire colors?  ???

The replacement coils are typically yellow, red & black but it makes no difference.

I figured the only thing that would be different is if the connectors on the end were different one flat or one curved maybe.

After looking up the coil on jegs website it gives some uses for each, "Red and Yellow primary wire. Fits Chevy 90° V6 and most V8 and Cadillac V8" and "Red and White primary wire. Fits Buick V6 and V8, Oldsmobile V8, Pontiac V8 and 1981-91 Corvette."
