I'm obviously the minority on this, but I like the stock appearance.  I mean really, when was the last time you were driving down the street and passed a clean freshly restored looking old chevy truck like that?  You just don't see that sort of thing.

I agree 100%.
Buy some new trim, spray some fesh holly green or schamrock green metalic or what ever it is now, paint and keep the OE look going.    ;D

The OE look on these trucks was pretty bad for the most part due to the awful wheels tucked a foot under the body and falt out ugly factory wheels. I never cared for the white roof look. Factory restored trucks and cars to me is neat and all but an expensive way to say OK this is what it looked like from the factory... kinda boring. Put your own personal touch on your truck that says who you are and make it a one of a kind.

Don't know if this will appeal or not.  I had the newer body moulding on my '87 and I liked it better than the chrome that was supposed to be there.  I probably would have put it on my 78 if it hadn't have had all the trim already.  Maybe use this trim and break the paint there?

I couldn't agree more Vile.  I have always put my twist on my vehicles like my 68 stang i painted with the 70 mustang yellow color w/ black rocker stripe--never another like it.  And, I have yet seen another sub like my 91, quite unique.  My 79 will be unique--that's just me, unique!

Well, what i like, and you probably won't go for it, is a two-tone of black and gold.  And then get the Hurst wheels or lookalikes  or cragar s/s would probably work also.   i'm thinking the black can go on the top surfaces and then gold the sides.   And make the gold with sparkle in it.

i think this would look great on a 73-79.

If i had a truck that need painting, i would do this.  Seriously.  i will try to find a picture of what i'm talking about asap.

(i have had the vision in my mind for close to two years and the more i think of it, it sort of gets clearer)

So where the white is right now would be replaced with hurst gold(with lots of sparkle) and then where the green is right now, it would be all black.

Also, i think Hurst has put those wheels back into production.
