headliner repair

I need help with my crew cab.  I took the headliner out to recover it.  As I was removing the old headliner several pieces of the old fiberboard(?) started coming off.  They tore off in certain areas.  Most of the headliner is intact and in fair shape(this is coming from someone who has never done this before).  I simply cannot afford to get a new one let alone how hard it is to locate a good one is.

So how can a get a level surface on the fiberboard so that I can recover it?

Is there a good way to strengthen the overall fiberboard?  Here is a pic you can see the biggest part that is torn off in the upper kind of to the right part of the headboard.

I was trying to get Rod Doors to build these as good ones are IMPOSSIBLE to find.  Since they trimmed down I don't know where this falls.

How good are you with Fiberglass?  You could aluminum foil the whole back side and fiberglass over it and make a mold or make a new one.

I have a friend who has allot of glass work under his belt, if I can get him down here soon I plan on going just that

I'm curious about those too. They could make a great platform to do something custom with.

Have you got a quote from an upholstery shop, some of them are surprisingly reasonable.

I have used the ABS one for the Regular cabs, but I haven't found any for Crew Cabs which is why I was hoping Rod Doors would make them available.
