Full Floating Rear Ratio Fact or Fiction?
« on: February 02, 2010, 12:33:17 pm »
Did GM ever release a 8 lug 14 bolt full floater in 3.23 ratio?  The guy claims its from a 70's K20.

I have heard it was only an option in diesel amulances.  I would like a lower ratio like that but lowest I come by is 3.73 without stepping into a semi-floater. I missed out on two already and another one just came up.  If it is indeed true I will go get it this time.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think they were available.  I have seen new ring gear kits in approximately that ratio.   I think I saw somewhere that the 3.73 that's so common is actually an optional ratio.

Do you mean numerically lower?

I have a 3.21 in my 85 C20 that is a full floater.  Great gear IMO with a SM465 and a 454

Have only ever p[personally seen 4:56, 4:10, and 3:73s in full floaters. Have heard that they offered a 3:23, but have never seen one in all th years, and trucks I have torn apart.
 3:73 is lower than 3:23.
