Strange vibe

O.K., 87 Silverado, stock 350, 700R4, 4 inch lift and 35 inch tires. Also short bed with stock rear-ends. I'm getting a vibration/growl at low speeds on deceleration. This vibe can also be felt at certain rpm's out on the open road. I've noticed that I now have a leaking pinion seal in the back rear-end. Don't know if that means anything or not. Any ideas??

check your U-joints and pinion bearing.

Are your u-joints ok?
On the seal, You can pull the cover on the rear if it is leaking, see if it is empty or low and inspect the internals.  I would definitley fix the leaking seal.

I've checked the oil level in the rear-end and it's o.k. I'm running Amsoil synthetic in it. The u-joints seem to be tight also. How would I check the pinion bearing?

When you say low speeds, how many MPH?  Is it in all gears or just one?

Did you pull the shaft to inspect the u-joints?  Also, try to put the truck in neutral and see if the vibration persists when coasting.

The tires are Toyo All Terrains with about 90% tread left on them. The vibration is most noticeable when coasting up to turn in my driveway, which at that point I'm probably in 1st or 2nd gear. My speed is 25 mph or less. I believe it happens in all gears. I haven't inspected the u-joints except to grab the driveline and check for any slack. I'll try coasting in neutral and get back to you.
