Lowered my SWB this past weekend
« on: February 02, 2010, 09:15:45 pm »
Used McGaughys front lowering spindles, McGaughys drop shackles and suburban hangers. Factory Rally wheels with no spacers. Im probally going to remove one spring from the spring pack to make the fender to wheel space even front to back. More eye appealing to me..

Hopefully tomarrow I can update this picture with the trucks new shoes.

I like that stance and the Punisher sticker in the window.  What's different about suburban hangers?

Looks good. Any idea what year Suburban the hangers came off of?

While spending many hours at the junk yard in my day, I noticed no one sells drop hangers for the suburbans... so im like well let me just see what they look like... They look identical to the drop hangers you can buy for 200 something bucks... I wanted to try it and they pair only costed 40 bucks. Basically just reuse one hole, top rear most hole. the hole directly below that one, needs to be opened up a bit then insert a bolt and sung everything up. the other 2 bolts need to be redrilled. take your time and there ya go. drop hangers for the cheap.
heres a picture with the burban hangers installed and the stock truck hangers sitting on the leaf spring.

Hopefully next weekend if weather permits hopefully i can mount the calipers for the rear brakes... ive got the rotor drilled for 5x5... massive 13.8" rotors with parking brake. thats gona be another post once I make more progress.

You know i didnt check it... I will now that you mention it... I happen to have a pair of shims if I need them. Im going to take a leaf spring out this weekend to make the truck dead nuts level (according to fender to tire gap). Im probally going to use my Eastwood fender roller in the front just incase.. dont need to chew up any tires if I can help it.

Heres a night shot (obviously) of the new look .... dirty truck + new wheels + unshined tires ... lol.. looks like i have something else to do tomarrow...

good ol' HID projectors :)

Thanks for posting that pic of the hangers. I saw a set recently and wondered if they'd work.
Trucks looks good, very clean and straight.

No one makes drop hangers for Suburbans because of the way they mount to the frame, and the frame design is different than a pickup.  I would definitely check your pinion angle.
