drop\tow questions

sorry for the simple question, but I want to do a slight drop (2/4?) just enough to level it out and make it easier to get in and out, I got bum knees. So my question is will lowering the truck hurt my ability to haul stuff IE fill up the back with home improvement items or tow a 21' boat? I did a search but didn't find anything, but i am sorry if it has been disused before

Are you changing springs or doing a shackle/hanger?
You won't be able to max the truck out with a drop of 4" in the back.

Well which would  let me retain more payload? I don't mind losing some but i like my truck to be a truck somewhat. Like I said this will be the first truck i will have lowered i always wanted to lower my 74 Cheyenne. Btw dont mind the fat kid in the pic...its just me in high school lol

Mine was dropped 4.5/6 and I hauled a refrigerator in it once.  I am just saying that putting 1200lbs in it or maxing the payload will have the axle beating on the frame, or resting on it.

you'll need air shocks or helper bags to maintain load capacity

Ive installed probably 20-30 helper bags on customers trucks and it is pretty easy. If you only haul loads once and awhile, you can get away without needing the air compressor. The basic kit comes with valve stems attached to the air line and you just mount them anywhere that is hidden. http://www.airliftcompany.com/ride_control.html
