single exhaust vs. dual 2 1/2

Well been debating on what i want to do with the exhaust on my truck for awhile and i had to move my 82 ta today and i love the way it sounds and was wondering what you guys thing about a large single exhaust with a dump? Right now the truck has long tubes 2 1/2 y that i built into a single 3in high flow ebay cat and about 3ft of 3in pipe and a turn down. Well on my 82 ta i have long tubes 2 1/2 y i built merged into a single 3.5in i pipe with a cutout then 2.75 into a stock 02 ta muffler lol. Well i love its sound with the cutou open and the larger the pipe the deeper the sound ect. Anyway thinking of doing something similar on the truck but build a 3in y into a single 3.5 with a bullet muffler and a turndown i know its a over kill especialy on a 4x4 with a mild cammed 350 but it does have a 2800 stall and ive got a forged 383 in the works as we speak.what are you guys opinions on going with the duals and some bullets dumped with a h or x pipe of course vs the large single? Thanks.

I ran a Y pipe 3" on my 88 Blazer and it sounded mean but I do like the look and sound of duals better.

I've thought of building my own single exhaust too. I had a mean single on my old 76' Buick and it sounded rightious! It was Y-pipe, 1.5 ft section of pipe, glasspack, then turn down. NO cats. Cats ruin your exhaust note IMO.

Yeah I agree. I put my old exhaust back on yesterday and its a single I built with a highflow cat and a turndown and its quiet as can be :/

I ran an S-10 cat hollowed out (3" in and out) and a 3" Flowmaster and before I had the hollow cat on there it droned quite a bit. The hollow cat gave it the perfect note. OBDI around here they only inspect for the presence of the cat and run a tail pipe test.

Around here its just a visual inspection but after the new year my truck will be an antique and will not require an inspection if I run the plates.

Yeah, my home in New Hampshire,and Texas where I'm currently stationed, you really don't have to worry about all that stupid stuff. Especially if your ride is like an '83 or older.
