86 crewcab 1 ton 8 inch lift
« on: February 27, 2010, 02:21:42 pm »
Hey guys I am looking for the correct way to lift my crewcab 1 ton 8 inches to run 38 inch tires. I do not want to use any blocks or body lift. Whats the best way and brand to run? Is a crossover steering setup needed? whats needed to run this setup? Thanks

You don't need 8" of lift to run 38's, just trim the fenders.

But if you are set on it, here is the best way to go so as not to have a stupid stiff lift.

Rear:
Diy4x - 1 ton shackle flip and switch with 6" shackles. (nets 4" of lift)
4" lift - 56" long Tuff Country rear springs.
Bilstein 5100 series shocks

Front:
Diy4x - B52 spring hangers, 6" shackle. (nets 4" of lift)
4" lift - 52" long Tough Country EZ rides (half ton springs)
Bilstein 5100 series shocks
SKY Off Road crossover steering for 8" lift.

Miscellaneous:

Extended brake lines (Skyjacker)
14 Bolt disc brake conversion (Diy4x)
Front extreme angle driveshaft (High Angle Driveline - talk to Jesse)
May need High angle rear driveshaft.
May need axle shims to help with pinion angle.
New gears front and back to accomodate new size rubber.

This will give you a better ride than stock, and give the lift you want.

That sounds like a good setup. I will look into pricing for this. My truck already has 4.10 gears which I think would do with the 38's. Thanks

Here is my K-30 with 8" Skyjacker "softride" front springs. Full 8" rearched rear springs, and a 3" body lift.

18.5/44-16.5 Gumbo Monster Mudders.

I highly recommend the Skyjacker "Softride" 8" springs. They were awesome.
