Cutting Fenders for Bigger Tires
« on: March 02, 2010, 11:40:27 am »
I put my 35" tires on my truck last night. The truck is a 76  K10 and has a 4" lift on it. I found the fronts are little tight. The mud flap rubs when I turn which I expected. The lower part of the fender towards the front where it curves in has about a half inch of space. I was going to cut about an inch off to gain space. What is the best way to tackle this without destroying the fender. I am maybe planning for cut out flares in the future but I am not sure. The back wheels don't stick out very much and I'm not sure how it will look. . If somebody has a pic of theirs with cut outs and 35X12.5 tires, I would really appreciate it
-THANKS

if you are set on cutting the fenders, a good cutoff wheel works great.   i have used a sawzall in the past, but it wrinkles the sheetmetal (too much movement in the saw).   a jigsaw would work too, but again, it wrinkles the sheetmetal because of the way it cuts.

I wouldn't cut the fenders. Add a leaf or add some spacers to the body.

I did find a site that sells like a 1" body that I might try. I am not a fan of body lifts due to gaps and such, but 1" isnt anything crazy. I think for now, I will roll the fender lift up slightly just avoid the tire catching.
