oil sensor wiring
« on: March 14, 2010, 01:46:58 pm »
Just put in an 70's small block in my 1984 C-10. My question is, on the 1984 305 there was I believe a low oil pressure sensor threaded into the block by the oil filter, it had 3 wires going to the sensor. Green, Blue, and Tan, since I don't need this sensor now, what do I do with the wires, tie two together, cut and cap them, or what? Thank's Ken

Just put the switch in the new motor and connect the wiring.

My 70's block does not have a provision for this sensor to be screwed into the block by the oil filter, the sensor wiring is just unplugged sitting on the cowl right now. This wiring is I believe for low oil pressure, so if there was no oil pressure  the engine would not start or run. I need to know what to do with theses wires? I am not asking about the oil pressure sending unit wire ( 1 wire), this has 3 wires, Thank's Ken

You can screw into any oil gallery on your block or tee in and just reconnect it.
