What to cover my truck with???

I am thinking of the roll on bed liner to paint my truck. Has anyone done this? What brand should I use? And how many gallons would it take for the whole truck? I dont want it to be too heavy(doors & hood). I use the truck a lot in the brush. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Most of the roll on bed liners do not use a catalyst. They will not hold up to UV rays. I would recommend SEM brand spray on. They have a gun that should be used with the SEM, but a Shutz gun also works. It doesn't cover as wide an area when spraying though.

I know absolutely nothing about paint and body. I am trying to learn as I go. So can you add catalyst to the products that dont have it? I know that was probably a stupid question but I got to learn some how.

As I said before I have never painted anything before so I am teaching myself. So how much paint will it take to cove a short wide? And how much por 15 should I buy for the underside of the truck + the engine compartment and fender wells? I have about talked myself out of the spray in bedliner.

2 gallons of paint if you're doing the whole truck inside and out. 1 gallon POR15

Glad you decided against bedliner. I saw a '73 c10 covered in it and it looked so bad. Peeling off in huge strips too. That may have been application, but I would use rattle cans before I used bedliner. I just don't think it looks right.

I am excited!!! I just talked to a local paint and body guy that is the best in this area about my paint job. I told him that I wanted to learn how to do this stuff and he told me to get it ready for body work and he would come to my house after hours and show me the ends and outs. And if I really wanted to learn to come to his shop and he would teach me all he knows. HOW COOL IS THAT!!!

Nice. A friend of mine painted his '82 with herculiner. We beat the crap out of that truck, as well as my '84 gmc, for two tree seasons after the liner was applied..no problems with peeling, minimal fading, REALLY handy when you needed a LITTLE extra height, but not enough to bother starting the bucket truck or stick lift. As an example of how severely we beat on those trucks, I took a load of trunk chunks, 3 chunks, the light one was about 2000 lbs, to the local brush disposal site in his truck (a k10), dumped them by backing up really fast, shoving the clutch in, and running into a two story high pile of brush. When I drove out, the chunks all got dragged out...the guy that lived next door to the brush site had been sitting outside with a cooler full of beer all day watching us dump brush and such..well, when I drove out of the pile, he was rolling on his porch floor, laughing so hard I could hear it over the truck from 70 feet away..
