dash lock

i broke the dash in my 79 k-10.     

the little bender flap at the bottom that acts as a hinge snapped.

i got a replace but how do u get the lock out?  cant remove the plastic part from the painted part

cause of this. also where can u buy another lock?

sorry didnt realize i was stuill in engine drivetrain.   can u delete posts and put them im the right spot?

read that write up, but didn't really help me. Ended up breaking the handle off on accident... still not sure what the paper clip is supposed to be pushing on to release and I can see the whole thing. Guess i'm not seeing something? I unscrewed the ring that holds the two pieces together and installed the new plastic, then put the broken one on for now, till I order a new handle, hopefully it will come with instructions!
