I just re-read his original post. It's a 91 Suburban fuse panel and wiring harness. #1 check the turn signal fuse!

1st thing I checked actually. Thanks though. About the only thing I can think of is maybe the canceling cam in the column is bad. I picked up a new one, it's just finding the time to get it dropped in. I think I've gone through everything else at this point.

Before you do all that work to put it in just unplug the harness at the base of the column and plug in the new one and see what happens. Also did your lights never work once you did the swap or did they just fail? I know when I swapped my column granted its for the older one but the harness from the column to the fuse panel I guess didn't want to match right up so it took some filing to get them to plug in then once it did it still took some playing with to get everything to work right I even think at one point only one side was working and 4 out of the 4 corners was working. It’s just a though

If you manually operate the signals do they work? Do the dash indicators light up?

They worked just fine before the truck was converted to a short bed.  And the dash indicators come on as well, I could sit in the cab and click them off and on to "simulate" the signals, as all exterior lights light as well.

I don't know why but I never even thought about just plugging the cam in without putting it in the column. Duh!  ;D I'll try that 1st before tearing it all down. Thanks.

So if you click it left the left side only turns on but is solid? if that's the case I don't see the cam being the problem more like flasher or a ground

Try another flasher by application.

Exactly. Turns on but it stays solid. I grabbed the flasher out of my dad's dakota and it didn't change anything.

2057 bulbs in the rear 168 bulbs for the corners 3057 bulbs in the front. Make sure they all match. The flasher should be by application for the suburban.

Ok I figured it out guys. I feel like an idiot now though. It was just the flasher. The one out of the truck and the one in dad's dakota are both 552 flashers. They both work in his dakota, just not in my truck. I went ahead and got a new  flasher anyways and low and behold they work fine now.  ;D Thanks for all of the help guys, I really appreciate it.

Since you resolved your problem I would like to ask a similar one.  My turn signals all functioned properly.  Last week, I turned on the flashers when I hopped out of the truck for a minute.  When I turned them off, the left front turn signal and indicator light in the dash remained blinking.  They will blink any time the turn signal fuse is in, regardless of the key position.  The flashers still work properly.  When you work the turn signals they will light up properly, but the left front turn signal and dash bulb will remain blinking no matter if the turn signal switch is left, right, or center. Any ideas?
