tranny help

so i changed my intake gasket reinstalled carb and distributer drove it purrs like a kitten however wont shift into 2nd i have a 1979 chevy blazer with a t350 tranny am thinkin maybe the detent cable. but dont know for sure if that would cause the tranny to not shift dint have any problems with tranny before :/ can anyone help?

What about the vacuum line on the passengers side that connects the metal line from the trany to the carb

i followed that line and it leads to the intake is it supposed to be on the carb? maybe i swapped 2 lines? u have a pic of urs?

it attaches to the intake behind the carb--there should be a tee adapter coming up from the intake and that is the souce needed for tranny modulator.

mine is a 79.  i am at work now, but i have a website with vacuum line routes etc....I don't know if i have a pic of that on it or not, my worksite doesnt allow for the pics to come up from my website due to some filter or something, but you may be able to pull it up

awesome! pics showed up yea mine goes to intake t too! i noticed on ur carb the detent cable is alot tighter tham mine.. only when im at full throttle is when it moves...

Make sure there is vacuum at the modulator when the engine is running.

heres a pic. there was a lil hose without hose clamps on it i took off is that hose supposed to connect the 2?

It's on the back of the trans. Kinda like a gold/bronze cylinder deal. Someone on here has a pic somewhere.

that second from last pic you posted is of the modulator, that is where the little rubber hose joins the metal line and the modulator on the passenger side of transmission.  there will be no clamps on it because there isn't that much pressure in these lines.  You should feel a suction like vacuum, well, that's why they call it vacuum, in the line when engine runs.  

you can make out the modulator on this...the gold looking gizmo towards the end.   Just follow your vacuum line and it leads right to it. Many modulators of a tiny screw inside them.  If you take the vacuum line off, and shine a flashlight in it, you'll see a screw head.  take a tiny screwdriver and turn it left or right to adjust shift points and smoothness of shifts.

k i turned the engine on and there is a lil bit of suction. if i turn the screw will it shift? it shifts hard going into reverse smooth into first then nothing... this is a rebuilt engine i installed in oct and had no problems with it until i changed the intake gaskets. should i turn the screw?

I wouldn't touch that screw unless its a problem. Put a hose on that tube and modulator and that should fix it then if there is a problem mess with the screw but a real Smooth shift is bad on the clutches/bands and a hard shift is bad on the hard parts.

yea dont have a small enough screw driver to turn it anyway. blah guess i should have it towed to a shop. sux cus its gta be somethin simple. :/
