Cab corner trim
« on: April 18, 2010, 10:44:11 pm »
Does anyone know how to get the cab corner trim on? I messed around with those things for about 2 hours todayand couldn't get the bottom on. I figure you gotta rotate the clip and push the spring up (or down depending on the side you are working on) to get the clip
to catch the top and bottom lip of the trim...These things kicked my behind this afternoon! Now I gotta couple of scratches in the new paint to rub out!  :-[

Sounds like your going about this wrong. Those clips need to come off of the truck, get slid in the molding (rotated & the wire tail snapped in)& then back on the truck. Let me know if you don't understand. Lorne

So, I need to line up the clips with the hole in the cab (after I have snapped them into the trim) and then snap the whole assembly into place. I. E; sliding into rear panel and into hole in cab as one unit. Thanks, Lorne! I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes!

Lorne, I fiddled around with the corner cab trims yesterday...Being perplexed with how to take the clips off of the truck, I went and looked at the clips on my brother's 75 that has been rotting in the yard here for the last 5 years...Took a screwdriver and pried it off of the cab and saw there were threads on the back side of the clip where it inserts into the cab! Little (dim) light bulb goes on over my brain housing group...Go back to Crystal's truck, flip up the front seat, crane my head around and see an opening under the rear upper cab trim...I reach my hand up into the opening, feel something crawling around on my hand, jerk it out, squealing like a little girl and brush the dried dead spider off of my hand...Reach back up in there and feel the trim clip post and a nut on the end of it! Grab a 3/8 socket and a 1/4 inch drive ratchet and had the clip off in less than a minute.

Popped the spring onto the trim, placed it on the truck and into the back panel trim in less than another minute and tightened that nut down like it was nobody's business! Went to the other side and had same result. Wet sanded the scratches I had put in the paint when I was trying to put the trims on last week, buffed them out, and stood back and admired the result! Thanks!

Yes, sometimes if you can't get your mine right on how something works it can seem really hard but once you get it figured, you can't believe how simple it really is. Glad to be of help! Lorne

X2 I used to carch as sell rattlesnakes when I was younger, but if it has more than 4 legs, I have no use for it what so ever. I go from a 6'2" 300lb man to a 4 ft, 8 year old girl in about 3 seconds.
