1980 Stepside bed issue :(
« on: May 12, 2010, 06:20:32 am »
can anyone help me figure this out?
This is an older pic... i am in the process of stripping the frame and repainting it and the bed is apart in my garage now, but i have been trying to figure out what parts i need to order and one of them was the steps between the fenders and the cab. Here's the weird thing... theres no room for them on the truck   ???
Does my bed look like its been shortened?? If that's the case, how is it that my fenders appear to be pretty well centered over the wheels? From what i can tell, if i did relocate the fenders and added the steps, the fenders would be off center from the wheels  :(...
Not sure whats going on here... can anyone shed some light please?

It looks as if your truck is on a Blazer chassis. I think someone has doen some swapping in its past

Need to take some more pics of the truck man but i agree w/ choptop your rig may be sitting on a blazer frame. Take some more picsof the inside of the bed if there is no wood and the underside and the pass side ,,

thanks

Definitely not stock. There is no room for the side bed steps in front of the fenders. Check underneath for DIY welds where the bed is attached to the frame.

I think Choptop got it right, that looks like a Blazer gas tank set up.

You can tell in the pic. The truck frame doesn't drop down while still under the bed. I have done this same modification several times before.
