Blower Motor Question
« on: May 20, 2010, 03:32:30 pm »
Okay so long story short, when I bought my truck a few years back I quickly removed all of the AC components from the engine because none of it was any good anymore and I didn't really want or need AC anyway. Well my blower motor no longer worked after that. I posted on here about the situation and was told that the blower motor wouldn't run with out some relay or something that was in the AC harness. I had already thrown away all of the AC harness etc.. Now at the moment I don't really have the money to buy the AC deletion kit or go to the junk yard get all of the non-AC guts out of another truck. My question is, would it be possible for me to just run the blower to the battery via a relay and a toggle switch in the cab? Or would this cause problems? I just thought maybe this would work as a temporary solution but dont want to risk any fire or anything. If so, how big of a relay should I be running to do this? Thanks for any help in advance!

You sure can however if you aren't running a resistor you will only have high speed which would be quite annoying if you ask me. If you become a site supporter you can post in the wanted to buy classifieds section where I'm sure someone can help you out with what you need to set it up the crrect way. If you only want high speed I can easily draw you up a schematic utilizing a relay.

Vile, Sorry for the delay in reply. Sure if you wouldn't mind drawing me a quick schematic of how to wire it, that would be excellent. I was going to just run twelve through the relay directly into the motor? I went through a few automotive electrical classes but that was years ago. About the resistors...Yeah I kind of figured right away I wouldn't mind just running high speed because I'd only be using mostly for the defogging aspect and for some heat every once in a while. I will definatly become a supporting member soon. Thanks for the help!
