I have an 84 C10 with a crate 350, I live in Phoenix,AZ and have to do emissions but do not have a smog pump setup. The first time I did the test I failed because of CO levels 131.46 the max allowed is 40.00 my HC and NOX are very low. I did all my vac lines rebuilt the carb and did intake manifold gasket and set timing with full tune-up. Any other ideas, on cyl. # 3,5,2,8 when i pull plug wire there is no change in motor thats why I did intake gasket it had a leak, but still no change. Do I have to have smog pump to pass. Oh yea it doesn't have a egr setup either, any help would be great. Anyone here live in phoenix, if so maybe we can meet up so i can take a look at your working setup, Thanks

You're too rich. Give me some of your $money$
More details on your set up. You need to lean it out a bit.

Put leaner metering rods in and leaned out the carb its a edelbrock 1406 600cfm if it was rich wouldnt my HC be higher I am stumped putting two new cats on this weekend, any other ideas

No, HC's are just unburned fuel. High CO levels indicates a lack of O2 therefore RICH. You need less fuel & more air. So what type of ignition system do you have? What is your timing set at? Those 1406 carbs are set up way rich. Are you just getting an idle test or on the dyno? Did you step down the jets?

The idle mixture screws will only effect your idle. Sounds like you'll need to jet it down or slap a Qjet on it. What's your timing set at?
