removing 4x4 rotors

I bought a 86 chevy silverado 4x4 this past week. This is my first 4x4 truck, so I'm new to some things on it. I need to take the rotors off and have them turned. I never have messed with taking rotors off a 4x4 truck before, so I'm needing some help on getting them off. Is there a link that someone could post, so i can see how to remove them? Thanks in advance.

It is easy to take the rotors off just takes a little time. But may I recommend getting them turned with an on car brake lathe for a truer job???

Remove wheel, remove calipers, remove hub, remove bearing nut, remove bearings and then slide it all off the spindle. The inner bearings are held in with a seal, so you dont need to worry about them falling out, but the outter bearings will fall out.

Also check on your axle ujoint maybe time to replace them while you have the hub off

I adjust the wheel bearings and use the on car lathe. If you have a local shop that has an on car lathe that's your best bet. If you want to take them off you'll need the spanner nut socket to remove the lock nut and wheel bearings.

The spanner nut socket is a good investment. I got one for about 12 bucks at o'rileys.

Ii dont know. Don't know how many times I did it with a punch or chisel till I Finally got the socket put it this what probably won't be the last time you take it off I would get the socket

I agree. It didnt take me long to give up and get the socket. Even then, I had to crank on the ratchet to get it off.
