Recently fell in love...
« on: June 05, 2010, 10:08:03 pm »
I saw a 79 today with the newer truck rims on it, from 07+

the problem is Blue is a 1/2 ton with 5 bolt rims

is there a way t get these newer 6 bolt rims to work, with either wheel adapters or something, are these even safe?(i dont do anything drastic with the truck, ocasional light towing)
http://adaptitusa.com/5x500to6x550wheeladapter.aspx

or would i have to try and change the rear axle and the front somehow?

i dunno if its possible, but with the pics ive found on here also with the rims its nice.

or, does anyone know of a compnay that makes them aftermarket to that same look, geting 5 bolt ones would be amazingly simple....

any thoughts would be great

2wd is 5x5 bolt circle. And there is nothing wrong with using adapters as long as they are installed correctly.

so with proper(not 30$ cheapies) adapters like the ones i linked, done to proper torque and such, would not be too rough on balljoints and the like?
also would the stock backspacing and all be fine to use if the new mating surface is 2in farther out with those installed?

thanks again

Measure, you may want thicker spacers in the back and thinner ones in the front so you have the correct stance
