1 what should the vac be at idle hooked to the rear of the carb at 900 rpms in park
2 wgats the best way to adjust these holly carbs my father messed with the air/fuel screws so i need a base point like the factory settings like 20 screws out 3 screws out or whatever
3 how do i set the timing with a vac guage lights useless cus we put the wrong pointer on it

basiclly what im tryin to do is get this thing to where it just sits in the bay an purs without shaking and the idle fluctuating between 900 an 1200.

also any ideas of the hp or torque this thing should put out i like hearing other ppl ideas.

so basiclly i just need a complete guide to tune thius thing in perfect without a timing light in laymans terms please help ive been workin on this thing for 3 years ive tryed tuning for 3 weeks and im ready to give

1) Not sure how much, but you want to adjust to get the highest vacuum rating, regardless of what it is.
2) start at 2 turns out.
3) set the timing with a timing light at 10 degrees, if you don't have one get one.  If you insist on doing it by ear, set it at the highest reading also.

You should not be idleing at 900rpms.  It should be about 750 with and auto.

I would guess you probably going to be around 12 to 14 inches of vacuum.  No matter what you do it's not going to, "purr" that's a lot of cam with not much compression.

Sounds like you may have something else going on though.  Checked for vacuum leaks?

Unburned fuel / flooding. It could be improper float adjustment or excessive fuel pressure.
