Socket size for ball joints
« on: June 29, 2010, 06:52:00 pm »
Can someone tell me what size sockets are used to remove the nuts off of the upper and lower ball joints?
Thanks

It could be different depending on if they are original, or after market. I have found over the years that aftermarket one tend to use a larger nut.Use a tape and messure across the nut.

I heard they could be metric. 33mm or something along those lines. I just don't want to buy sockets that won't fit seeing that I'll have to buy them individually

Your best bet would be to use a ruler, or tape and messure them.

do what blaz said messure them then go out and buy individual sockets from sears or a parts store and before you take the plastic off the sockets see which one fits with least slop and return the others you didn't use just make sure there not dirty

I work on a lot of transport trucks and the lug nuts are 33mm but we use a 1 5/16 all the time they are very close in size.
