Painting interior (metal)

I am restoring my truck and did lots of exterior body work and the interior is all stripped out. I wanted to paint the truck orange but the interior is repainted a red years ago and it came out decent and I hate to repaint all the interior but I don't want red. I am going to paint the roof and what ever is red. Are there any tips out there for doing this and precautions I should take. Reason I am posting this thread is to see if anyone else has pictures or good advice in doing this project such as in what to remove or just tape off, ect. Any advice or tips appreciated. Thanks.

See that ugly old wore out looking fuel tank switch in the picture? You can get a brand new glossy pretty one from autozone for about 12 bucks. Way worth it in my opinion. Its an AC delco part. Its the little things like that, that make your interior really shine. Every time I look at my new switch I think "Da##, that looks a lot better than the old one..."

I think there is even a page on the site dedicated to rebuilding those switches. I was going to make use of that page, until I found out that they sell brand new ones for so cheap.

Take the ash tray and glove box out. Remove the latch, take everything out. Scuff everything with scotch brite and shoot it!

we started out blue and went to white in the 84 c10....




I stripped the whole inside out, sanded it all down and any bare metal or rusted areas(floor pans mostly) got hit some etching primer to stop and help prevent rust...

Then I painted it all with a spray gun.

I had to mask all the windows and rubber seals on the inside, plus the column and pedals and such, you can see most of what was taped off to try and stop overspray and what not. Let me tell you this though.... I wore a respirator/paint mask had the door open, was outside in the yard, fan on sucking fumes out, and I still got high as a kite doing this so be warned.

I have seen guys mask the dash and only paint the metal that can be seen though.
