Got everything except bed painted so now I'm trying to figure out what best to spend my money on next.
Truck needs all new wiring, dash pad wasted, brake lines shot, had a 305 and dropping in a 350 that needs carb and distributor, want/need new hardware for body panel install, windshield and all weatherstripping/seals for cab, wheels/tires, tilt steering column, and I'm sure I'm missing more. What you think, install 350/TH400 and rewire to fire, or reseal cab (windshield and all weatherstripping/seals)?

seal cab if it's done being painted, don't want water laying in it.

Then rewire, then motor work, or brake lines first, or even brake lines before rewire, then last wheels and tires,

Agreed, I'd get the cab sealed up first. The longer something stays apart the less likely you will be to find all the pieces to put it back together.

Thats what I was leaning towards but I always like to get results right away and starting a motor is just what I want. Unfortunately I know thats not best for now lol, I guess I just needed someone else to remind me of that. So I'll be ordering complete cab weatherstripping and door seals and getting that sealed up. Then call Safelite to install new front windshield and old rear window. Thanks for reply

Hey looking for the stuff to seal up my doors. Not really sure what exactly stuff is that I'm finding, partly because my doors had nothing to begin with so I'm not 100% on whats missing. Found these and not sure what to get.

the $65 kit has the beaded window felts or sweeps in it, and they alone are %50 or 55 you want the entire kit. You'll need the vent window seals too. Those kits do the main window only I think, you'll still need the door weather strip to seal the door to the cab and then the vent window seal, but that requires you to drill out the rivet, remove the vent and then install the seals and re-rivet it.

Each door gets a window run channel, inner and outer belt seal, and a door seal.  The vent window seals should be still on your vent window ass'y and you'll have to decide if you want to tackle that.  This is the kit I bought and will get you most of what you need:  http://www.jcwhitney.com/complete-door-weatherstrip-kits-for-cars-trucks-and-suvs/p2008622.jcwx?filterid=b896d7648y1986j1  The price is competitive if you use one of their discount codes like free shipping or 20% off.  The fit is pretty good, although the inner belt seal doesn't fit nearly as well as the original.

competetive? do you see the link he posted from classic parts? everything in the kit you posted, run channels and window sweeps, for $55 and they have door weatherstrip for $30, they even have vent seals for like $40.

vent windows..

run channels and beaded sweeps...

door weatherstrip...

You could buy all of those for the price of the kit with door seals from jcwhitney. it always pays to shop around if you are on a tight budget.

I think capt. sells weatherstrip in the online catalogs now tho doesn't he?

That does look like a deal.  I don't know who manufactures those, but was told to stay with Precision as their quality is better than some others.  I did get 20% off so it was about $120, but not that good of a deal apparently.

I have heard similar, heard that metro wasn't that good or they were good or something and advance carries metro weatherstrip. I heard of another brand being really good but forget their name.

Good to know Chris, I would trust capt. to get some top notch stuff as well, it may be more but he deals in good stuff and does alot of background and research on them first I bet before making them a vendor or buying from them.

Definately a good thing to think of, quality and fit over price. A cheap one may fit ok, may fit terrible, same can be said for more expensive ones, or they may not last long.
