How do I bend a sway bar?

How do i bend a sway bar? I'm retrofitting a front sway bar to the rear of my Suburban and its bent from someone getting pulled out by it and i need to bend it back straight. Its off a K5, its the front sway bar. Its bent between the frame mounts. Any ideas? I know I can't heat it cause it loses its spring. I don't have a 4x4 to put it on either or i'd just chain it to a tree and back up. Its bent enough that I can't get the bolts through the end bushings into the spring plate mount. I need someone with experience to help with this one. Thanks in advance to those that respond.

If you don't have access to a hydraulic press you're probably better off getting another from a junkyard. A pic of the bend might help visualize how to rig something up.

My neighbor and I tried using his 20ton press and went as far as the press would go and the bar just sprung back to its bent shape. I think I might just have to go get another. Ugh

Steering and suspension components should never be bent to try to repair them.

you can get them from a salvage yard cheap. I have three of them, i paid like $10 each for them. The hardest part is drilling through the rivets that are used to hold the brackets on. Then chiseling the rest of the rivet off.

Yeah you need a new used one.

Got one for 30 bucks its only slightly bent, but it was the best one in the yard. Should have this rear sway bar retrofit done pretty soon. Thanks for the help.
