Fuse keeps blowing - help!

The other day I pulled my 85 C10 into the gas station to fill up and when done, I cranked the truck and noticed some of my guages were not working including my gas guage.  I drove home and checked my fuses and sure enough the 20A Guages/Idle fuse was blown.  I replaced it and turned the ignition on and the guages still wouldn't work.  I checked the fuse again and it was blown.  I repeated this process 3 times with the same result.  What do I do?

Fuses blow because a circuit is pulling too much current. Check the circuit for wiring that is shorted to ground. Check under the hood and around the exhaust manifolds. Check for any added circuits that may be faulting. Whatever you do, don't keep putting in new fuses until you locate the source of the malfunction. Remember 6,241,507,648,655,549,400 electrons will flow through that circuit in one second. You wouldn't want a fire

I've heard that a .22 Long Rifle shell makes a good substitute for a glass fuse.

.22 shells also work good to replace the forward/reverse buttons on most tape decks.

+1 for broken/melted wire. After checking under the hood like Vile said go in by the pedals and make sure you didn't pinch a wire or knock something loose in the cab. Also check the back of the bulkhead. Was it wet/ raining when it popped?
