2008 Impala Helper Springs

Max tongue weight for an 08 impala is 100lbs.   i'm baffled how such a large car has such as low tongue weight and tow capacity?  1000lbs.

Well, I  rethought it, and the carrier is too much hassle, so I went today and bought a little 3x5 trailer.  The car's gonna tow that, whatever it's low rating is....lol   I think the trailers capacity is 2,000lbs, but the chair only weighs 250lbs so it'll do for what I need it for....  So tommorw I'm off to get a tag for it....   I brought it home behind the truck and it looked so funny.  it's sooo little...haha  I can't see it in the mirrors, or even looking back over the tailgate.  I think I'm gonna put a flag on it or something.

EDIT:  I looked in the owners manual, and this is what it says"

"How heavy can a trailer be?"

"It should never weigh more than 1,000lbs, But even that can be too heavy"

What kind of idiocy is that?   I just love the whole, maybe, possibly, could be, on a weight rating...  I'm totally impressed by this...

A trailer is probably the smartest solution anyways, just a bit more hassle.

Those year impalas are notorious for eating the rear tires on the inside edge esp. if loaded on the rear get the alignment checked and watch the inside edges of your tires.

Yeah, It'll work good, the carrier would have just been a convience thing.   I'm gonna keep the carrier though,  might come in handy somewhere down the road, like when I have just one more thing to fit in the truck when its totally full or something like that.  I've needed one a few times, so it's not a total waste.

If you look at the applications, those are just factory springs.  It says "Exc. Police".  For that matter, I tried and could not find a source for the police springs.  Maybe the guys at the naioa.com site Irish suggested can help.

Opps , sorry... I wonder if those spacers with bolts that you can use to jack up or compress your springs would work. I am scared to recommend too many things because those springs don't appear to have too much "meat" on them to start with.

Here's my new little trailer for the car to carry the wheelchair.   People laugh when I tow it behind the truck.  They all wanna know what I'm doing with it.  It does look a bit silly....

Usually the guys at the tire shop talk about the truck, but today nobody mentioned it....   haha  they all wanted to know why i didnt just put whatever i was hauling in the truck.

I should strap a powerwheels down in it and drag that around...
