My new 88 K5....
« on: August 21, 2010, 01:43:28 pm »
Picked this up today, got it for very very cheap. It’s a an '88 5.7tbi, with a freshly rebuilt 700R4. The previous owner said it cuts out at traffic lights etc, but I had absolutely no trouble with it today, ran like a dream. The backs so low to the ground because it came with a ton of spares, including a replacement interior with brand new carpet still in the packaging. Brand new front fenders and inner fenders and loads of other bits.

I’m not entirely sure I like the tail lights, but i have a set of spare originals. I’ve also got an 89-91 front panel and grill in my garage which I’ll prob put on... It also has 35 inch tyres (but no lift  ::) ), but I think I’m going to replace them with original tyres on a set of Rally wheels I also have in the garage. Its going to be my daily driver and those tyres eat the fuel!!!

It needs body work, and has rust in some of the usual places, but the rockers are fine, and so is round the windshield.

Really happy with it so far.

Tail lights and door steps need to go, IMO...

But it is a great find!

I kinda like the lights...they don't stand out as much as the chrome ones.  Nice Blazer though.

She's a beauty.

A question, did the European C/K trucks come with red/amber taillights like the 1991-94 S10 Blazers?

I like rice, brown rice or pork fried rice, and even carbon fiber rice.

No, in the UK usually what was done was an orange bulb was put into what would be your reversing lights. Then below the bumper would be a white light (the new reversing light), and also a red light for the rear fog which is a legal requirement here (You can see them in the 3rd picture just to the right of the exhaust). I’ve no idea what they do in Europe.

My C20 pick up is different though, it has the indicators mounted in the bumper.

The rear lights are quite Ricey - as the phrase goes ‘Lexus lights start fights'

I agree, IMO the "euro lights only look good on bikes"

Removed the front bull bars, think it looks much cleaner now. Also took those horrible side steps off. Got rid of those ‘ricey’ tail lights too....

It hasn't rubbed so far, but they're coming off in favour of some smaller tyres. Thinking about a set of BF Goodrich, All Terrains, in size 31x10.5x15s.....
