ok I need help again with my wiring
« on: August 24, 2010, 07:50:51 am »
I have an 85 and I had a small fire when welding and burnt my wiring harness. I have replaced everything and all looks good, I cant try it yet because my truck id totall still apart. My question is this I have found a 3 prong plug clip at the top of my colum that I dont have a plug for. I am not sure what this is? It is close to the top just under the dash it is white has 3 prongs and points down and is on the left side of the column. I am not sure if I missed something or what? I dont have and power locks or windows. I am lost have no I dea what it is. I cant seem to figure posting a picture out yet so all I can do is try to explain what I mean.

I think you need to post a pic. Click additional options in the lower left or host your images on photobucket and use the image code

Guy, You say white, three prong.  all prongs going the same way, and the on the left side of your column, This is your high beam switch.  Flick the the lever back like you were putting on your highbeams and look right behind the white switch you can see the little rod that acctuates the switch.

If your dimmer switch is on the floor of a 1985 then no telling what you have then.  GM moved the dimmer switch/windshield wiper switch to the steering column starting in 1984.

My wipers switch is on my steering column, maybe it is my head light switch and it went bad and the previous owner moved it to the floor. That probaly why I dint remeber removing the wires from it. Make sense !!!
