i was wonder do you unplug those when the engine is running or not?

yep you can while it's running, some of them won't let the engine start if you unplug them with it off, I know mine wouldn't start with the coolant temp switch unhooked. if it's running that much rpms what does it do when you turn it off? I'd think it'd diesel badly, like keep running only really rough like it's running backwards lol.

i haven't tried with the engine running but the truck started with all the sensors off and then held a high rpm like it always does i don't know. as far as how it shuts down well i doesn't stutter or anything shuts off normal like.

no vacuum leaks? how do the brakes feel if it's power brakes? If the booster is busted I'd think they'd be hard to push and maybe causing a huge vac. leak and high idle I know mine goes real high with a line pulled off. If not only thing I can think of would be the tbi, like the cable stuck or something holding it open.

yeah i drove the truck around the block and it sounds like a wind tunnel under the hood but the brakes feel ok but i'm going to drive it again tommorrow. i did a rebuild on the tbi already. maybe i'll redo the rebuild again but i hate to spend 30 bucks again for the kit.

hey guys well after rechecking all my vacuum lines and checking the break booster i figured that i did something in the rebuild of the tbi. so i took it off again and checked everything inside. when putting it back together again i noticed that the gasket wasn't sealing the tbi. i put the wrong gasket on it and it was sucking air through it like crazy. i replaced it and the rpm leveled out like it should. want to thank everyone who gave me advice in what might be wrong thanks guys.later

I was just about to chime in and tell you there are several variations of the tbi base gasket and if you use the wrong one it makes a major vacuum leak near the IAC passage.

my truck doesn't want to start when hot both the starter and battery are new within 4 months one of those months it wasn't running. so i was wondering if anyone has tried to set up a ford like solenoid and if so is it working well for you or does it do no good to do it. thanks everyone  for the input.

it wasn't the solenoid that was causing the hard start. it was the fried pos wire lying on the exhaust. put on all new wires with a new alternator and it starts like a champ
