Should the American Flag Be Banned -- in America?
Specifically they want to know if the flag should be banned in schools as it may offend the hispanic students.

There's a lot of yes's there....

I am offended by people that hate my country, we should ban them.

Stuff like this just pisses me off. As a country, we're so worried about offending people and being "PC" we lose our sense of values and morals. Did it ever occur to these people that this is OUR country and we can fly our flag whenever we want and fly it proudly in any setting we see fit. If you get offended by OUR flag then get the heck out of our country. Is that too much to ask???

I've designated a new curse word. That word is OFFEND, OFFENSE and OFFENSIVE. Saying any of these around me is like saying any of the normal well known curse words in front of your momma when you were 5. I now call it the O-word...
Offend is to do something someone else doesnt like. There isn't one person on earth that does everything just the way i think they should, including myself sometimes
so i technically should be offended at everyone on earth including myself and so should all of you, but thats way too much work so i hereby nullify the word offend and all its versions henceforth. whenever you hear the O word from here on in just be understand you're talking with someone who truly has nothing to say.
Imagine how funny it would be if all these websites started censoring the O word... haha i think the web would be a better place myself.

If they don't like the U.S.A. why are they here?
Now, because non-citizens have more rights than citizens, citizens, whose families made this country so great that everyone wants to be here (fought the wars and lost lives, etc...), are being penalized.
WHAT HAPPENED TO MY RIGHTS??!! Does it not matter that I have rights? The U.S. Constitution used to represent me. The U.S. politicians used to work for me. This used to be a democracy, not fascism. The U.S. flag used to represent those facts.
geeze, don't get me started.

That's BS if you don't like it go back to some place that doesn't have it.
Being PC is BS. They're gonna keep on and this is gonna be the united states or immigrants. Or united states or no rights for americans because it would offend somebody for us to be seen, have rights or speak, or do anything.
total BS and they should be slapped.

i pledge allegiance to the flag of the united states of america. and to the republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, for liberty and justice for all. (reciting from memory, so it may or may not be right. last time i said it was in 6th grade!!)
God bless america!! our flag should be flown from every household in this great nation. we need to stand up for our rights, get rid of the PC, and say "if you don't like it, leave. heres $50 for a train ticket out of here." i know i'd proudly give someone $50 to leave if they don't like our flag.

Is there a background article that goes to this poll? If you ban the flag, might as well ban 4th of July, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, and any other holiday which goes with the flag.

Here's worse - Today 9-15-10 the city of Portland, OR and Beaverton OR raised the Mexican flag in addition to the US flag 'cause it's Mexican independence day. The city of Beaverton spent $1,000's of dollars for a parade and a big whoop-de-do tonight. Oddly enough, Beaverton does nothing for our 4th of July. Beaverton has lots of hispanics, do you think the mayor is buying the votes???

Disgraceful. The people in charge that allow, and pass laws to support the kind of blatant contempt for our country should be tried for treason.

buying votes. If i lived there, he would've just paid for a vote for his opponent come next election.
Anyone see Leno last night? He did his Jay walking skit again and asked Americans who the father of our country was--person didn't know, then asked a question about Spencer and Heidi and they knew everything. He asked someone about the jersey shore and the person knew everything, asked who the 2nd US president was...no idea. Asked where the Mayflower landed....even hinted it was a name of a car manufacturer---nope, couldn't come up with it. Then he said, "Plymouth....?...trying to coax the next word----the word they came out was Chrysler. Yeah, they landed on Plymouth Chrysler versus Plymouth Rock. Our young kids nowadays really make me wonder.
I know for entertainment purposes, NBC edits what they want to use, but, it is still sad and these answers are not atypical.
Heck half couldn't even find Mexico on a map. Of course, now all they gotta do is point to the USA.
This is our country today. People are ignorant. People don't care. We're going down the tubes fast. People don't even know anymore what the flag stands for.

No offense to any Puerto Rican's but if you don't like the American flag in the USA then move to Puerto Rico! You don't have to love our Government but you do have to love our country. You don't have to love everything about our country but take pride in all of the hard work that got your butt the easy life you have now and all of the conveniences associated with the sacrifices that have made us the USA. I fly an American Flag off of my house and always will. If you don't like it -dare ya to try and take it down.

Why is it that we as a nation have come to this point ? If our great grandfathers, and their fathers, were to see what is going on in our great country today, you know heads would roll. Not enough people take pride in what our flag stands for, or the amount of sacrifice our anseisters paid to be able to fly that flag..... Like so many people have said, if you live here, you need to live here with our traditions, not yours..... tom
