Mirrors late model Suburban/Blazer 1991 or newer
« on: October 01, 2010, 08:05:23 am »
I just bought a truck with the most useless pair of mirrors.  I have a correct set of Dumbo but would like to look into 1991 Suburban or anything that you guys have done.  Please post pictures and I need measurements for the Suburban set for placement.  The truck is pretty nice paint wise so I would prefer to go over the existing holes.  Thanks in advance.  Here is my starting point.

Here is a petpeve of mine. Many people refer to mirrors as dumbo mirrors yet everyone has a different idea of what dumbo mirrors are so can we ban that word here? lol To avoid confusion this is what dumbo's look like.

So not sure which mirrors we are talking about so

These are the most common sport mirrors

These are the standard truck mirrors (best looking imo)

Then you get into the big mirrors, towing mirrors and west coast etc. I'm assuming you aren't looking to go that route?

Sorry, I have a set of standard, and a set of sport, however I would like to see pictures/measurements of the 1991 black mirrors that came on the Suburban.  I have only seen them a few times and thought they might look better than the standard style.  Long term I'd like to update the whole front end with the 1991 grill/core support, ditch the bumper guards and find a pair of nice 1991 bumpers with the rubber strip from it is well.

The black ones are harder than heck to find. Seems not many Blazer/Jimmy/Suburban owners wanted power mirrors.

I want a set to see if I can adapt heated, dimming, signal glass from something into them.

Only place Ive seen the black ones is in a really really poor customer serviced company's manual(I can say that right) Im sure though boss man Captn could hook you up with them one way or the other.

I would purchase anything from those folks, the horror stories I've heard.  The quality really is lacking, the truck I just brought home has a dash pad from them, talk about a twisted, terrible fitting piece of junk.  The only thing I can say about it is there are no cracks...

I'll grab some pics of them tonight when I head out to the shop. Personally I love those mirrors and would put them on my stepside if it were not for the holes my current mirrors would leave behind.
Maybe it's a regional thing but I've had a bunch of parts trucks with those power mirrors on them.

on my 91 V2500, they are black and appear to be attached to the glass, but they are set in front of the door glass, not screwed into the sided of the door.  They are stock and power mirrors.

The ones that sgtdel has are the factory ones and yes they do block part of the window which is what I don't like about them.

Thanks SGTDEL for posting your picture.  Looks like the placement is different slightly and would not cover the holes in my door.  Looks like the "standard"  :)  is the way to go.

better not be in an accident.  A lawyer will tear you up in court for removing safety equipment from your vehicle or driving an unsafe vehicle.

I have a set of standard style mirrors on my Burban, they are polished stainless and power adjusted, got them from a 1991 GMC Suburban parts truck, only the little lever on the door panel gives away the power feature, perfect for me.

Do you have a picture of them? The only power mirrors I've seen on the 89-91 Blazer/Suburbans are the black ones like Sgtdel and Captkaos posted pics of.
