1985 C10

Hey All,

Here are a couple of pictures of my 1985 Chevy C10 Long Bed project.  So far i have removed the running boards, shaved the rain gutters, lowered 5/5 with spindles, springs and a flip kit, changed out the wheels, removed all of the factory moldings and installed a roll pan.  I am going to be shaving the stake pockets and am debating on molding the roll pan.  

Here is a pic when i first got it.


Here are some recent pics.  I have some hellish lean.  There is a little over an inch difference from side to side.  Everything in the rear suspension lines up ok.  I'm guessing that it's the leaf springs.




I am going to be replacing the tired old 305 with a 4 bolt main 350 from a Suburban.  Rebuilding the 350 is going to be my winter project.

Made some progress...

I shaved the stake pockets and welded in a rear lower fender on the truck bed.  It is also sprayed with urethane primer. 


Here is a before after shot of the disaster that was cleaned up in the engine bay.  After 4 gallons of purple power, 3 wire wheels and multiple cans of eastwood's products it cleaned up pretty good.




Decided against rebuilding the 350 block that i picked up.  Jegs had such a good deal on a crate engine it didn't make sense to spend all of the money in machine work and new parts...  Dropped it in this past weekend.

Starting to do some body work on the cab and reinstalling everything in the engine bay.  Kicking myself for not labeling the 30 feet of vacuum lines that i removed.  Good thing there is still a diagram.

     I like the over all stance of the truck, and the wheels are a nice addition.  Keep up the great job.

Those look like a soft 8 cragar, but larger diameter. I like it!

Yes they are the cragars. I wanted to go old school but needed something bigger due to the drop spindles. They are 17x8. They were dirt cheap as well.

i am thinking 17x8 soft 8s for mine too. what tire size is that? and backspacing?

I will have to check. I'd reccomend going larger in the back. I believe they make a 17x10 also.  I wasn't happy with the view from the back. Need a fatter tire...
