brakes not working right....HELP!!
« on: October 16, 2010, 09:46:24 pm »
ive got a friend with an 82 reg cab chevy 1/2 ton 2wd swb. his truck is at my house and i need it gone..lol his brakes seem to be dragging really bad...like your driving around trying to power stall it. sometimes the brakes will lock up and the truck will not move. not sure if its the front or rears anymore. it was the front but now it seems like the rears. we put new calipers, new master cylinder and new brake booster on it. also, while bleeding the brakes i didnt get much fluid out of the back brakes. seems to drive ok sometimes but occaisionally when you stop...the brakes dont seem like they wanna release all the way. seem to stop ok though. also pulls to the left a little when braking. what do i do??

second question is while driving..it pulls REALLY REALLY bad to the left. like...it will jerk you off the road if you let go of the wheel. is that just an alignment issue or is that part of the brakes?

i need this truck out of my place by monday or tuesday at the latest..please help! thanks guys :)

More than likely they are collapsing.  Try opening the bleeder after you let up on the pedal.  If fluid shoots out the hose is not letting the fluid to return to the master, or release pressure if you get what I am trying to say.

it does sound like the left hose is bad it will let fluid by one way but not the other causing it to drag and that will also cause drag on the left wheel causing it to pull

ah ha! success! lol......the left line is holding pressure still. also noticed a small hole in the right brake hose. so replacement of the hoses should fix the problem. now if i can get those stubborn lines loose at the frame lol thanks guys
