Altus Ok show pics 10-30-10
« on: October 30, 2010, 08:47:26 pm »
Went to a benefit show today to help a family out with expenses. Their 5 yr old son has leukemia and has to travel to OKC for cemo treatments. Daddy is a die hard car guy/self employed fabricator. Great support and perfect weather, mid 60's with a light breeze. Even managed to grab 3rd in modern customs class :-\. Took plenty of pics so hope you enjoy.

And this is the 1st place winner in my class

This is what took 2nd in my class

Nice rides there.

You should have taken first by a mile, IMO.

Thanks guys!! Now that you mention it, I kinda think I should have faired a little better, but I'm biased also ;). The way they classed people was a bit screwy to say the least. For an example, the first truck was also placed in the same class as myself, modern custom, but the two tone truck next to me was placed in street rod class. The red camaro was also street rod but the blue one was in classic. Go figure ::). Plus the all the people do the voting, which, depending on the type of crowd there and who has the most friends with friends there, that will determine the outcome. But if you were to vote strictly by class, I would have to say I was beaten fair and square, even tho there was not to much fair and square about the classing procedure:). They were both modern and custom and I was old but custom. But, the only reason I was there, along with everyone else, was for Ryan and his family. So all is good. A very generous amount of funds were raised, 50/50 winner even put the winnings in the donation box. But I'm sure all this will only be a small drop in the bucket compared to the financial drain this ordeal is inflicting on them. More events were announced and I'm sure many more will be planned for the coming year. A few prayer for little Evan Lownes and family would go a long way too.

I can't believe 2nd place even placed.  And 1st doesn't hold a candle to your fine machine.  Were the judges smokin' dope?

Thanks for sharing.

people always vote kind of weird, last show I went to had a very nice showing of several beautiful hot rods. people's choice winner was a stock 2000 mustang with a nitrous bottle in the trunk. Stock truck class winner was a ford lighting with 22"s lambo doors, some wild paint and graphics and just about every other modification one could do to a truck. But its It's always fun to get out and see some rides and if you get to take someting home it's just a bonus. Most shows are in part or in whole fundraisers for some organization and that is what really matters. btw that is one nice truck you have and you would have taken 1st in my book.
