TRANNY NOT GOING INTO GEAR

OKAY SO I FINISHED UP ALL THE LOOSE ENDS ON MY RIG FINALY, I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW TH350 FROM JEGS WITH CONVERTER. I FINALLY GET IN TO START IT UP AND THE TRUCK DONT MOVE! NOW IM CERTAIN I GOT THE CONVERTER IN THERE RIGHT,IT CLICKED GOING IN AND I KEPT SPINNING AND PUSHING IN TILL STOPPED. NOW I MUST SAY THERE WAS A LITTLE SPACE BETWEEN THE CONVERTER AND TRANNY AND IT WAS NOT 100% FLUSH WITH IT. I PULLED IT OFF BEFORE TO DOUBLE CHECK IT. I MEASURED THE INSIDE OF THE CONVERTER AND THE LENGTH OF THE SHAFT ON THE TRANNY, IT TURNED OUT THAT THERE WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENCE IN BOTH MEASUERMENTS  BUT THAT LITTLE WAS THE AMOUNT OF HOW MUCH THE CONVERTER STUCK OUT. WHICH WAS WHY IT WASNT FLUSH WITH THE TRANNY WHEN I PUT IT BACK ON. SO THATS WHY I THOUGHT IT WAS IN RIGHT WAY. HOPE IT SOUNDS CLEAR FOR YOU GUYS. NOW I PUT ABOUT 10 QUARTS OF FLUID IN.I HAVE A TRANNY COOLER AS WELL. I DONT HEAR AY TYPE OF GRINDING OR MESHING IN THE TRANNY. ANY BODY BOUGHT THIS TRANNY ALSO? WHAT COULD I HAVE DONE WRONG? THANKS FOR THE READ GUYS ANY HELP WOULD BE APPERCIEATED

OK FIRST OFF LETS PRESS THE CAPS LOCK KEY.... Now, how about a little info on your truck? By your name I'll assume this is 2wd so no transfer case correct? Did you bolt the converter to the flexplate? Is your linkage connected? Did you put the driveshaft in? more details

WELL YES YOU ARE CORRECT, ITS A 2WD WITH A 350.JEGS BRAND CONVERTER AND TRANNY. EVERY THING IS ALL TIGHT,CONVERTER,LINKAGE,DRIVE SHAFT.  JUST NO MOVEMENT AT ALL. I CAN SEE THE CONVERTER SPINNING WITH THE FLY WHEEL ONLY. NOW THE CONVERTER IS WHAT PUMPS THE FLUID SO THAT THE TRANNY ENGAUGES GEARS CORRECT? COULD IT BE I MIGHT NOT HAVE SLIPPED IT IN ALL  THE WAY? WHATS A SURE WAY TO TELL A CONVERTER IS INSTALLED IMPROPER? WOULD IT MAKE A GRINDING NOISE OR SOMETHING IF INDEED INSTALLED INCORRECT? I PUT 10 QUARTS IN A NEW TRANNY AND CONVERTER. 2QTS OF THOSE WENT INTO THE CONVERTER, IS THAT ENOUGH?

OK, yes turn your caps lock off, it's annoying!

When you bolted the transmission to the engine if the converter spun freely you should be OK. The converter engages the transmission oil pump so when the engine is running the transmission oil pump is working. If you didn't fully engage the torque converter to the 1)stator support, 2) input shaft 3) oil pump and you bolted the engine to the transmission it will usually damage the pump.

What does it read on the dipstick with the engine running?

I TOOK OFF THE CONVERTER BOLTS AND THE TC SPUN FREELY.NOT TIGHT AT ALL,NO PLAY WHAT SO EVER JUST SPINNING FREELY. I PUT THE TRUCK UP ON JACKSTANDS AND PUT IT INTO GEAR A TIRE BARLEY SPUN. I ADDED A LITTLE MORE FLUID BUT NO GO. ON THE UPPER TOP OF THE TRANNY THERE IS A LITTLE COVERED CAP THAT LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD BE A BREATHER OR SOMETHING. THERE WAS A LITTLE GAP BETWEEN THE TQ AND WHERE THE PAN WOULD BE AND I COULD PUT MY FINGER BETWEEN THEM BUT THEN AGAIN I HAVE SKINNY FINGERS SO.. NOT SURE ON THAT ONE. ANY HELP GUYS?

Also, it makes it hard to read.
'90 Suburban TBI 350
