Which Rear Drum Brake Shoe to use? (size)
« on: November 18, 2010, 03:25:24 pm »
I am aware that there is two kinds of Brake drums on a 1986 chevrolet truck.

I bought brake shoes last night and the shoes I got are the "thermo quiet" brand and the pad is a little bit larger width wise than the pads on the truck now.

Will this be an issue?

Yes, there are 3 different sizes. What is the brake code option on the spid label in the glove box. It should be a J code.

You need the smaller ones the ones you have now are 5/32 longer than the ones that are/was on your truck
