missing code sheet, now how do I find paint codes???
« on: December 05, 2010, 01:18:27 pm »
ok like it says in the subject. the build sheet thing in the glove box is completely gone. I really want to go back as close to original colors as I can.

I have a 83 silverado with two tone. it was really common color combo.

Red, Tan, red. it has a couple of resprays on the top red and has been severely faded and mild surface rust. the tan is all chalkey now. the interior is a real good indication of the red. its deep   here is a lnk to a truck that is real close

Factory was Almond for the tan and Carmine Red for the Red.
Almond appears to be PPG 3439 or PPG 2777
The Red could be PPG 3160 or PPG 3464

A paint store should be able to look it up for you or the dealership.

There should have been another build sheet on the drivers side inner fender, unless it was removed by PO.

I have an '83 silverado and I'm pretty sure the fenders and inner fenders had never been off before me.  There is no indication that there was ever a build sheet there.  Can anyone shed light on this?  I'm just curious.

inner fender is clean unless you mean inside the fender. if thats the case I will go pull it off for the info.

dealer is no help and the paint store locally is less help than the dealer.

the dealer says they didn;t store them until 95 witch seems odd. I am going to try the dealer that the truck was purchasesd at and go from there.

Try this link. It may help you get started. Thanks to Stewart Griffin for posting the link for GM Heritage Center which this came from.
