Burning oil after adjusting rockers. Need some help.

Hey all, I recently had a noisy rocker arm that I adjusted along with some other ones that were loose. My truck is now smoking blue out of the side that I adjusted and have no clue what is causing this. It does not smoke when it is cold but gradually smokes more and more out of the exhaust tip as it gets warmer. This is the third time I have started it cold since then and it is still doing it. I really hope I didn't mess anything up  . Any help is welcome. Thanks.

Is it blue smoke or black smoke? Might just be coincidence, because I can't think of why valves would cause smoke. Maybe you have a problem with the heads.

how did you adjust the valves? To be honest unless there is major wear you should never need to readjust the rockers.

I adjusted by starting at #1 tdc and going around tightening each one to zero lash then 1/2 past etc... I can't figure the source. It doesn't smoke at all on start up but when it warms up, blue smoke slowly gets greater and greater. Any other suggestions?

Check you transmission fluid level. You may have a small hole in the modulator valve diaphragm and it is sucking trans fluid into the intake and burning it. I had one once and it did not affect the shifting until it drank enough to cause a problem. It would not smoke on start up either but after it you drove a little ways and it warmed up it would smoke pretty good.

Thanks for the help. How would I go about checking the modulator valve? Is it easy? I have a 700r4 tranny.

I'm not sure if your 700r4 even has one. Mine was TH400. Maybe someone else in here can tell you for sure. If it's not electric shift, I think it may have one. There will be a vacumn line going from the intake manifold to the valve on the transmission. They only cost around 12 bucks.
