Engine Temp Question

OK, I put my new autometer gauges in this afternoon. Started the truck and let it warm up Oil pressure gauge worked great. STOCK Water temp gauge was reading 210 but my new autometer gauge was reading less than 150. The sending unit for the factory gauge is in the front port of the intake. the sending unit for the autometer gauge is in the back port of the intake. Any suggestions for the difference in temperature? I checked all the connections and everything looked good.

The temp sender should be in the cylinder head. An alternate location is next to the thermostat housing.

agreed on the cylinder head placement. I just hate running wires behind the headers if I dont have too. PLUS the stock sending unit is too big to fit in the clinder head. But could the placement be why im reading such different numbers?
