87 4 speed Clutch...stuff

hey guys got a 1987 with a 4 speed 350 tbi, i recently broke the "bellcrank ball pivot stud" on the frame side, had to order the little booger from the dealer and plan on workin on it sunday.  Was wondering if anyone has had experience replacing this part before? Havent had it tore apart yet to really see what Im up against.  Any advice or even a rendition of how much of a pain its gunna be would be helpful.  Also how do i tell which transmission I have? from what i understand there were two different 4 speeds that came in this truck? If it helps it has a 1st which is a low gear, then 2nd-4th I normally start in 2nd.  Thanks alot!

Ok guys here the deal, I posted awhile back about replacing a "bellcrank ball pivot stud".  I got it tore apart, after some part searching i found the part i needed was only available at a dealership.  The part that broke on me was the pivot stud on the frame side of the mechanism.  It broke in the threaded part right at the base where it bolts to the bracket.  Judging by the wear marks on everythign it ahd been loose for awhile.  I also found out that they stopped using the bellcrank clutch mechanism in 1984 possibly (my truck is registered as 1987 but who knows). SO i took the part I had into the dealership and they gave me a new one exactly like it.  After putting everything back together, first push of the clutch pedal and the bellcrank pops off the bellhousing stud.  It looks from what I can tell that the new stud I got is not long enough.  There were also two options at the dealership but I went for the one that was exactly like what I took out since...well it was in there to begin with.  I dont understand how the new part can be the wrong one when it looked exactly like what was in it. With the snow weve had in central Iowa and my other vehicle being a Trans Am, I need to get this figured out.  Thanks guys much appreciated!

After a little fabrication, and exchanging a few parts, we got it back together in good working fashion.

Im not sure why I had to use a different stud either. The way the rest of the truck was put together when I bought it Im not sure if thats even the parts for it haha but either way, its a goin now. Thanks again.
