Rear inner fender upgrade
« on: January 16, 2011, 04:23:28 pm »
I found these pieces on my 77 Custom Deluxe parts truck. They were not on my 79 Scottsdale or my 78 GMC parts truck. I liked them so I installed them on my 79 yesterday.

A closer view with one installed. The holes are already there in the fender to accept these inserts. They just bolt right in and with a shot of undercoating they look good.

So are those factory, or did someone make them ?

Those are factory.  I have them on my '77 but my '91 they are missing.  Gonna got get them at the junk yard.

I figured they were factory. You can tell by the bolt holes. The flange on the bed has nuts welded on for the wheel houses to bolt to. But, the two at the back toward the tailgate take and bolt and a nut. Now I know why. The nuts are welded to the backside top of the insert. I guess some trucks got them and some trucks didn't. I never really noticed. Just funny they were on a Custom Deluxe when my other two trucks have higher trim levels...

I can't believe no one is selling these. You'd think everyone would want them.

Really, once you see them installed they are pretty cool and they will help keep a bunch crap from slinging up inside your fender.

I had a 97 Dodge Ram years back, and that had plastic full coverage wheel wells in the back. It was an awesome design, and if something like that was available for our trucks I would buy them.

Funny thing, I got my 78 k10 sierra parts truck home today, and they have the rear wheel well extensions on it.  Score
