n00b from OH 86 k10
« on: February 03, 2011, 08:03:31 pm »
hello I just wanted to introduce myself and more so my new project/toy. I recently picked up a 1986 K10 for $800. The body is in great shape and that is why I bought it. Its got the 350 and early 700r4 tranny. The tranny was recently rebuilt, new front wheel bearings, hubs, decent tires, custom interior and a spare set of rims with crappy tires. The truck didnt run when i bought it but i got it running fairly easily and only have $850 in it to get  it running. Since getting it running Ive bought a tailgate for it (didnt have one) and straps and need to get the trunnions. Now the thing I know you all really care about... the Truck (called Project Black Sheep):

Pulling it home, got the truck, trailer and truck stuck but made it out on my own...

It all tied down...

Backing it in the shop

I believe they are Tahoe seats and the drivers seat is power...

After getting it running...

the grill back in

again the grill back in

They are super swampers 38/15/15 I think (I cant remember exactly but I know they are 38in tall) the lift is about 6 inches suspension and 2 inch body lift. I actually bought it as an investment and something to tinker with in the evenings but the truck is awesome so i thought what the heck maybe Ill just keep it to try to do a cheap toy build. I started an excel spreadsheet to track all costs put into it. The tires have great tread and the posi works great. (gotta love snowy driveways) Since getting it running Ive noticed a hesitation around 1700 rpms. Its been freezing here so I havent tried to see what it is. I am going to try to pull it out this weekend and get some good daylight pics with an actual camera instead of a cell phone. getting it on the trailer, it just fit and I mean just! I actually had to pull it off with my mountaineer. Now the reason for the name of the truck... I have 5 vehicles at this present time. Starting with the 97 Mountaineer 5.0 AWD, 98 Cobra, 95 Mark VIII, and a 00 F-250 PSD. By this trend you can probably guess that I am a FoMoCo guy, however my dad had a 78 GMC and I always loved that truck. When I had the opportunity to buy this and the guy said 800 i was really happy, but it was my first Chevy hence the name Project Black Sheep...

Sorry I should have made myself clear... I mean I have $850 total into the truck right now... Thanks all

And my current location is Diamond (about 30 mins east of Akron)

Hoping to learn a lot about this truck to add to my knowledge of the automotive industry...
