needs a c-notch lol, actually had to remove the bumpstops for the axle to even get into position.

gotta play with the springs a little, it is uneven, but the jackstands in the fore ground make it look worse than it is. turns out it was a good thing it rained the day we were going to cut the bumper off, it was pretty much the only place we could put jackstands and still work on the suspension.

killed it with fire! and pry bars..... and a sledge hammer.... and lots of swearing.........

knocked the overload spring bracket deals off and some spare pieces of the bumper that couldn't really be plasma'ed off, knocked most of the scaly rust off for a quick blast of primer, and got all the brake lines off the rear end so i could knock the rust off of it, aaaaaand it started raining. ugh. sweeet hubcap eh?

It's literally been raining for almost 2 weeks.

Did catch a nice day, got the frame double primed, fuel tank is assembled, rebracketed, seat belted in, and back where it belongs.

we decided it would be in the interest of performance if i ran a red wastegate and bov instead of the plain ol billet ones, ordered those.

waiting for decent weather again so we can get the exhaust mocked/ fabbed/ ready for ceramic coating.

currently in the middle of redoing our websites image structure, ill post up some more pictures when i land on that part of the images.

Rust preventative on the friction surface of the rotor?  You planning on sanding that back off before using?

What are your plans as far as an E-brake?  Caddy calipers?  None at all?

Jared, its black spray paint, clean right off the friction points the first time you stop. And no e-brake, too much hassle for as little as we looked into it.

I wouldn't think grinding paint into your brake pad would be good, but I guess you're right--not that big of a deal.  Are you gonna share any details of your conversion?

Even if he didnt coat the rotors and the got a layer of rust, that would come off just as easy. Happens every time it rains. Go look at your discs after a good rain, they usually will have a little rust on them.

lol, just think of it as poor mans anodizing. the stuff on your average wilwood rotor takes way longer to come off, and the brakes suck until it does.

for the conversion -

http://shop.virginia4x4.com/Bolt-on-Rear-Disc-Brake-Conversion-Kit-14-Bolt-VA4X4-BR-BO-14B.htm

these are the brackets i got, very nice pieces all around, i like that they use a billet spacer to locate the brackets instead of welding tabs on to fill the gap. It came with more than enough safety wire to get the job done. i had to grind the powdercoat off the brackets inside of the "U" shape to make the calipers fit perfectly, which to be honest is probably a variance between caliper castings. I literally only had to skim off the powdercoat.

after that we got - pads rotors and calipers for a 75 chevy k20, thats just the model we gave them when we called advance auto, dunno if different years make a difference or not.

I then followed this how-to

http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/14b_disc_brakes/

no surprises, went exactly as the instructions said it would. REPLACE THE WHEEL STUDS! the new dorman ones have a more "shallow" head on them, i dont believe the GM ones would work correctly. I used the longer of the 2 studs (DOR-610-301), but im just putting big nasty spiked lug nuts over the stock wheels.

got this puppy from UPS yesterday morning, using the bird poop as a guide, i think it'll work.

mostly worried about bottoming out on the battery, but it'll tuck up enough on the underside of the bed that if it gets smacked, im probably also losing my axle and have a whole different set of problems.
