Truck not running right.

Well, my truck is running like crap. I ran it out of gas a couple times and before the second time it was running fine (about a month ago, it sat for that time too). It idles really rough and has started dying on and off as I come to a stop. I removed and cleaned all the plugs today and checked the vacuum lines and it's no better. It really sounds like it's either missing bad or has dead cylinders. All the plug wires are in good shape, the plugs were replaced last year and I've put maybe a couple hundred miles on it since then. Can't think of any other needed info right now. Help?

Did you check the cap and rotor?

Have you ohmed the plug wires? It could be that a little piece of crud has lodged in your idle circuit too.

It's a 350, it's getting fuel, wires are good. The cap and rotor are almost brand new as well. Could leftover fuel in the carb have gummed up the jets after sitting for over a month? I had someone suggest seafoam, but not ready for that yet. Should I just try some carb cleaner?

if you ran out of gas like you said, it could have been crap at the bottom of the tank that got pulled into your carb. If it's an edelbrock, it could be dirt holding up the metering rods at idle.

I'm pretty sure that was exactly it. Used some carb cleaner today and within about ten minutes she was running like a champ! Thanks for the replies everyone :D.

If it goes back to doing it again, you may need to pull that carb top off and clean out the debris in the bowls, not that hard of a job.
