Just Can't Decide......Need Suggestions
« on: March 08, 2011, 05:09:05 pm »
Ok, 2wd long bed 1980, stock height.  I want to get new rims and tires before the 427 goes in.  I am torn between the old school look of 15's and a lil more updated look of 17's.  Kinda like the Summit Legend 5, Torq Thrust II as well as the good ol' S/S.  I was gonna hold off till the motor was in but the Wilwood D52 calipers are rubbing on the factory rallye wheels just a bit.  So now is the time.  Should I stagger the front and rear or go with the same size on all 4 corners.  Suggestions, links, and pics are greatly appreciated.  I know, I will post pics of my build soon.......

Are you planning to lower or raise it or keep it stock height?

Here's the 18's on mine.  it's lifted a bit though.  I like the updated look to them.  18" Raceline Renegade 8 wheels and 33" tires.

Keeping it stock height.  I really like the way that yours turned out.  Very sharp truck.  Thanks for the info.

If you want to rotate your tires, I would get all 4 tires the same size, which means you could still stagger the rim widths, as long as your within acceptable widths for that tire.  For ex.  275/50r17 on 17x7.5 up front and 17x9 in the rear.  That way you can rotate the tires for even wear.
