Hit and run
« on: March 24, 2011, 10:29:39 pm »
Well , as the title says my 87 was the victim of a hit and run....somebody was ringing the door bell at 2:00 in the morning ....and something tells me when somebody is ringing a doorbell at that time ....it's not good....so i just didn't answer it....30 minutes later it happens again so I just let it go ....then a cop does his patrol of the neighborhood and stops and gets out shines his flashlight around my truck and I open my front door....he asks " was it like this" and I replied how? And I walk over to see the left side tail light was smashed and the bumper bent ....and i look again...to see the truck was moved at least a foot away from where it was originally ....he writes up a hit and run report .... if y'all have some advice on fixin her please let me know ....

Answer your door...

buy new parts (lens, bumper, brackets, tail gate trim, etc) and it sounds like a good time to learn a little body work. Or take it to the shop. The body doesnt look bad though.

Hope they find you, did the cop ask neighbors if they saw anything? that orange lens is from suspect vehicle, cop should have looked at the lens to attempt to find what car it came from.

So it sounds like someone was trying to tell you something. Why didn't you investigate who was at your door? I don't think I could just lay in my bed and count sheep while someone is pounding on my door at 2:00am Nevertheless it sucks and like beastie said time to go hunting for some parts doing some body work.

Maybe they were trying to tell you who hit it? At least your parts can easily be replaced or repaired though.

Same thing has happend to my dodge magnum in the middle of the night. Heard it get hit, went outside recon style with an M-4, ( I have a slight case of PTSD ) and long behold, a 91 blazer hit and run! Got partial plates through my scope, they got caught, and had my front end replaced.

Yup, I get out of bed for just a noise with a Glock in hand let alone someone pounding on the door! Quarter looks like its got a kink in it but looks fixable.

Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs

I sure hope nobody answers there door at 2 in the morning without some kind of protection, though I am with everyone else, should have answered your door, you might have been getting them to pay for it now instead of you.
