Replaced AC Components/Weird sounds now

86 Chevy truck 350 motor.  Replaced Compressor (r4 type), replaced orifice tube, replaced accumulator....did a ac flush....cleaned lines and condensor out.  added 4 oz of oil to compressor, rotated it several times, added other 4 oz of oil to accumulator.  Used about 4 cans of r-134a.

AC blows cold..... It feels as if it could blow colder though.  I do not have the passenger side kick panel in the truck which has that diaphram thing on it which I believe sucks the air in when MAX Ac is on.  Is that Correct?

There is also a "tick noise" that comes from the compressor I believe. 

Also after shutting down the engine, there is a sound of like pressure being released on the side where the accumulator is.

I have never had AC work in my truck before Yesterday and was just wanting to see if any of this is good/bad.

Make sure the compressor is installed tight as well as the bracketry. Make sure all lines are secured and not allowed to vibrate. The hissing sound is normal as pressures equalize. I'm afraid to ask though, did you vacuum the system before you charged it? You put in 4 12 oz cans? If so you are still 8 oz short of a full charge. When set to max AC the fresh air door is closed and the air is recirculated in the cabin.

My Dad and I did pull a vacuum down on the system for an hour.  So it needs 4 12 oz cans of freon and then about 8 oz from one more can?

Is the 80z of Oil I used sufficient for the compressor?

What kind of oil did you use? PAG? Ester? Do you have a set of ac manifold gauges? I would say yes but I need to know the high and low side pressures, the ambient temperature, duct temp and relative humidity to say for sure.

We used the Pag 150 oil...and yes we used guages for the freon....as far as the other stuff I didnt record that info.

Throw the gauges back on it and report that info and I can tell you whether or not you need to add more refrigerant.
