Stalls after start hot

Today after a jaunt on the freeway for the first time for my in 95+ weather, I stopped at a store.  After being inside for 10-15 minutes I go back out, start the truck, and begin to pull out of the parking lot.  Right as I pull out, it stalls.  I coast to a parking spot.  The truck will start back up and run for a second, then die out as if it is running out of fuel. 

It would sometimes let me rev it up and would start to sound like it was good.  As soon as I would try for a gear, it would shut right down.  Any ideas or things to first look for?  I tried to see what the fuel looked like (TBI), but it would die before I could run out and look under the hood.

Check for spark and check for injector pulse. If OK check fuel pressure

That was the real bugger of it.  Starting it and trying to run around to the front to watch the fuel, only to have it quit before I could get there.

When I got a ride back last night to pick it up, it started and drove just like usual, no problems the entire way.  I did have a Code 43, knock sensor.  It came up when the truck wouldn't keep running, I do not consider it to be part of the problem.

I am going to get some insulation wrap for the fuel lines to start there.  I guess I will just have to wait and see when it happens next.

You should be able to check spark even if it doesn't want to start. After that, start checking your other things.

I doubt it's the fuel getting too hot and causing vapour lock. The fuel system should be like 12 to 15 psi and closed, so that raises the temp that gas starts to boil, VERY high.

I 2nd checking your fuel pressure. It's not a matter of vapor lock but a matter of heat soak in the fuel pump after the pump is shut off. Without fuel flowing through the pump it heats up .

TBI pump is in the tank, so I doubt the pump is getting heat soak.

I suspect the ICM in the distributor.  Like Vile said, check for spark and fuel pulse.
